iPhone 4S Data Plans: AT&T, Verizon or Sprint Compared

Which Carrier should we use?????
Here's what I know so far....Stay tuned as I will UPDATE as details become clearer!
UPDATE:10/7/11- Well pre-orders have started on AT&T, Verizon and yea SPRINT! At exactly 3:01am edt, well close to it anyway), all sites started taking orders for Apple's latest iPhone the 4S. I stayed up to monitor and found both AT&T and Sprint as well as apple.com all DOWN or assessable! Verizon was sporatic at best but could be done.
  • As for SPRINT: They are offering this price plan's:
from $79.99 per month when you add up its 450 minute Everything Data plan which includes a $10 per month smartphone fee, everything is included including Messaging & data. A 16GB model will set you back $199.99, a 32GB model will cost $299.99 and the new 64GB model will be $399.99. BUT, hold on, if you are a NEW customer there is a $36.00 activation fee as well.

  • As for VERIZON:
an iPhone on Verizon price for the phone is the SAME as the others and requires at least a $39.99, 450 minute talk plan only, $59.99 for 450 talk & Unlimited text and $30 data plan for the lowest 2GB

  • As for AT&T:
The iPhone 4S is the SAME price as the other carrier's and also requires a data plan. Plans start at 450 w/Rollover Minutes at $39.99, data plan of 200mb $15.00 and $20.00 for unlimited messaging on AT&T.

Now that we know the latest edition of Apple's hugely popular iPhone is set to be launched on October 4 at an event on the companies Cupertino,CA. campus headquarters, the real question is what carrier do we use? AT&T, Verizon or Sprint?

YES! I said SPRINT.

Rumers abound that Sprint will be joining the cellular companies that will carry the iPhone. Word out is that Sprint will join AT&T & Verizon in the battle for the iphone market.

But word is that Sprint, the third-largest U.S. wireless carrier, will have a competitive advantage over it's rivals in the fact that they will be offering, "Unlimited Data" plans to everyone, unlike AT&T or Verizon who have stopped offering such plans and now have a tiered rate.
At the end of the second quarter 2011, Verizon had 106 million subscribers while AT&T had 99 million and Sprint had 52 million. Sprint's messy merger with Nextel in 2005 certainly didn't help its position either. In addition, both rivals offering the iPhone gave those companies a little extra edge that Sprint will now obtain.
Little information is available so far as to the exact pricing and details of what Sprint will be offering but Sprint already offers unlimited data plans for smartphones such as Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM)’s BlackBerry and HTC Corp. (2498)’s Evo, which runs on Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android operating system. Sprint’s unlimited voice and data service costs $99.99 a month. I have heard that it may be as little as $79.99 a month
IPhone vs. Android
The iPhone may not lead to more data use per customer than Sprint already sees from customers who have Android phones. In the first quarter, Android smartphone owners in the U.S. consumed an average of 582 megabytes of data each month, compared with 492 megabytes for iPhone owners, according to Nielsen Co.’s analysis of nearly 65,000 cell-phone bills.

AT&T and Verizon

AT&T and Verizon charge for data service on top of voice- service plans. AT&T, which has unlimited voice service for $69.99 a month, offers 200 megabytes of data for $15 a month, 2 gigabytes of data for $25 a month, or 4 gigabytes of data for $45 a month. Verizon’s data plans for the iPhone start at $30 a month for 2 gigabytes and rise to $80 for 10 gigabytes, in addition to unlimited voice service for $69.99 a month.

T-MOBILE

Oh, by the way, as for T-Mobile, or as some WANT to call it; AT&T-T, they are NOT getting the iphone anytime soon!
As you all may know, back in March this year, AT&T announced its intent to purchase T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 billion dollars. This would be the merging of the United States’ the second largest cell phone service provider (AT&T) with the fourth largest (T-mobile). The resulting merger would vault past Verizon Wireless and become the nation’s largest cell phone service provider.
BUT the United States government filed court papers in Washington, D.C. to block the deal. According to the report, the Justice Department feels that the deal would "substantially lessen competition" in the wireless space. In fact, it boldly stated the following: "AT&T's elimination of T-Mobile as an independent, low-priced rival would remove a significant competitive force from the market.

Troy Davis - IS DEAD...LAST WORDS

UPDATE:11:34pm 9/21/11
  • 10:52 ORDER IN PENDING CASE 11A317 DAVIS, ANTHONY TROY V. HUMPHREY, WARDEN
  • 10:57 State Attorney Generals office notifies MacPhail's mother Anneliese "[Davis] is on the gurney, the needle is in."
  • 11:08 Davis pronounced dead.

Troy Davis was put to death at 11:08pm est for the death of Police Officer Mark MacPhail on August 19,1989.
HIS LAST WORDS:
"I'd like to address the MacPhail family. Let you know, despite the situation you are in, I'm not the one who personally killed your son, your father, your brother. I am innocent.
The incident that happened that night is not my fault. I did not have a gun. All I can ask ... is that you look deeper into this case so that you really can finally see the truth.
I ask my family and friends to continue to fight this fight.
For those about to take my life, God have mercy on your souls. And may God bless your souls."
UPDATE:10:23pm 9/21/11 US Supreme Court DENIES Stay of Exucution of Troy Davis.....There were NO dissents...Word is that the Execution is NOW under Way.

As I write this I have ALL three news channels on TV...Have Demorcracy Now Web cast on.....Breaking News web site....Just to name few.

Troy Davis was supposed to be executed at 7pm East Coast time in Jackson, Georgia, 47 miles from Atlanta this September 21, 2011.

But a last ditch effort plea to the US Supreme Court has delayed this for an VERY unusual amount of time as the nine justices here this case for a stay of execution of Troy Davis as his lawyers say they plan an appeal.

"It is killing me, to tell you the truth. I don't know what to expect anymore," said Anneliese MacPhail, mother of Mark MacPhail, the man Davis was convicted of killing in 1989.

Though Davis' attorneys say seven of nine key witnesses against him have disputed all or parts of their testimony, state and federal judges have repeatedly ruled against granting him a new trial. As the court losses piled up Wednesday, his offer to take a polygraph test was rejected and the pardons board refused to give him one more hearing.

Troy Anthony Davis (born October 9, 1968 - September 21, 2011) is an American death row inmate convicted of the August 19, 1989, murder of Savannah, Georgia, police officer Mark MacPhail. MacPhail was working as a security guard at a Burger King when he intervened to defend a man being assaulted in a nearby parking lot. During Davis’ 1991 trial, witnesses testified they had seen Davis shoot MacPhail, and two others testified that Davis confessed to them. Although the murder weapon was not recovered, ballistic evidence presented at trial tied bullets recovered at or near the scene to those at another shooting in which Davis was also charged. Davis was convicted of murder and various lesser charges, including the earlier shooting, and was sentenced to death in August 1991.

iphone 4S OUT on AT&T, VERIZON & SPRINT!

 .....OCTOBER 7, 2011 - Pre-Order
.....OCTOBER 14, 2011 - Available in Stores

UPDATE:10/7/11- 3:25am edt I have been trying to get on the Sprint web site now to see if I can Pre-Order the iPhone 4S from Sprint with UN-Limited Data and see how much the plans would cost compaired to my current carrier, Verizon. BUT I can NOT access the iPhone arear at all. Either everyone is trying to get on, or Sprint is NOT used to this kind of a MAJOR increase in traffic to there site.

UPDATE:10/3/11-  Reported in The Wall Street Journal that SPRINT, the No. 3 wireless company, that the carrier agreed to purchase at least 30.5 million iPhones over the next four years—a commitment of $20 billion at current rates—whether or not it could find people to buy them, according to people familiar with the matter and that Sprint would likely lose money on the deal until 2014.

iphone 5 Invites
UPDATE:-9/27/11 Apple has officially announced its iPhone event, to be held on Oct. 4. The event will take place at Apple’s Cupertino Campus in California, beginning at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT), according to press invitations issued by Apple on Tuesday. Some reports say Apple will release two phones during next week’s conference. An iPhone 5 and a less expensive model, possibly called the iPhone 4GS.
(NY Times)

UPDATE:-9/26/11 Apple’s iPhone 5 event on Oct. 4 will take place at the company’s Cupertino campus, not in San Francisco where all the previous iPhones and iPads have been announced.
UPDATE-NEW INFO:-9/21/11 Apple’s Next Event is to be held on October 4, Starring Its New CEO. Apple's iPhone 5 will make its debut Oct. 4, with new CEO Tim Cook taking the stage to host the unveiling, according to a new report by AllThingsD. That’s the day Apple is currently expected to hold its next big media event, according to sources close to the situation, where the tech giant will unveil the next iteration of its popular iPhone.

UPDATE:9/20/11- T-Mobile executive says no iPhone 5 in 2011 for them. “We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year.” said T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman speaking at a town hall meeting on September 15.

That is the date I am hearing. While chatting with French reporters at a business conference, France Telecom CEO Stephane Richard said the iPhone 5 will debut on that day.

Appleinsider.com has reported that Apple has reportedly informed its AppleCare division to expect an influx of iOS-related inquiries from customers beginning Monday, Oct. 10, perhaps signaling when the company plans to release iOS 5 to existing device owners. Could then this mean that latter in the week the iPhone 5 will then be released?

New York Times reports that according to an Apple employee who did not want to be named, iPhone 5 announcement is just weeks away, in line with what some of the rumors have suggested.

One can ONLY hope so....

Never has there been such a build up of rumors, leaks, reports, anticipation etc over anything. I for one is
getting SO fed up already I'm on the verge of getting a Blackberry.........NOT!
Apple is REALLY building extraordinary hype this time, or the iPhone 5 is just not quite ready for launch.

Here's whats been going around the "Tech" world".

The biggest news out there is that "SPRINT" will not only be getting the iphone but according to a report by Bloomberg, Sprint is planning on offering its customers unlimited data plans for use with the iPhone 5, which is widely speculated to be launching in early October.
The report claims that Sprint wants to differentiate itself from rival carriers AT&T and Verizon, both of which currently do not offer unlimited data packages for use with the wildly-popular iPhone handset. A leaked Sprint memo informs the carrier's employees of a vacation blackout from September 30 through October 15 due to the "possibility" of a major phone launch.

To me this is HUGE. I for one currently have Verizon as my carrier. My contract has LONG since been up, so a jump to Sprint for "Unlimited Data" seems to be a no brainier.

The iPhone 5 is also supposed to be bigger & thinner then the iPhone 4. Leaked pictures of cases hit the web and  Macrumors.com commissioned ciccaresedesign.com to create high quality drawings made as closely as possible to the original leaked case designs. The final dimensions of the new design are calculated to be: 4.33″ x 2.36″ and .27″ thickness at the top and .21″ at the bottom In comparison, the iPhone 4 dimensions are: 4.5″ x 2.31″ x .37″. So the new design is actually shorter than the existing iPhone 4, but slightly wider and thinner.

Compaired to iPhone 4
On Sept. 14, unwire.hk posted a group of pictures of the would-be screen protector of iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 will have larger display and wider home button, leaked screen protector suggests.

iphone 5
Best Buy employees have been informed that pre-orders for the iPhone 5 will begin this week in time for a release in the first week of October.
A Best Buy source released a document to BGR.com, which shows that the store is anticipating the pre-sales.

On September 12 Vodafone spills the beans  U.K. carrier Vodafone briefly lists the iPhone 5 on its Web site in both 16GB and 32GB editions and in black and white.

NY Times reports that according to an engineer familiar with the new iPhone, it will:
  • be fairly different from the iPhone 4 — including on the inside
  • come with an eight-megapixel camera
  • have a faster A5 dual-core processor
I will continue to scour the web and my sources and bring you the very latest news on when the iPhone 5 will FINALLY be a reality!
STAY TUNED!

SHAME on MLB - Prohibits NY Mets from wearing first responders hats on 9/11 anniversary

IT'S ALL ABOUT - MONEY!

Major League Baseball DENIES & PROHIBITS the New York Mets from wearing the 1st responders hats in a 9/11 tenth anniversary tribute to the NYPD, FDNY, PAPD.

"They contacted the club and said it's an absolute 'no chance' at all," said NY Mets second baseman Josh Thole. Josh continued, "I guess the fines would be (prohibitive). I spoke with some of the guys and with Terry (Collins) and he said the same thing. They came down on the club very hard and there's nothing we can do.
They sent out a big memo that was very adamant about what they wanted done."

MLB said the same thing right after the attacks in 2001 when the Mets took the field in Pittsburg against the Pirates on September 17 the first game after 9/11 and again on September 21 at Shea Stadium against the Atlanta Braves the first baseball game in New York.
Jose Reyes During Batting Practice 2011

Bobby Valentine, former Mets manager in 2001 said,  "We were getting ready to wear them in Pittsburgh for our first game back, when (GM) Steve (Phillips) came in and said, 'You can't wear them.' I said, 'Oh, OK, and I called a meeting and said, 'Hey, guys, you can't wear the hats. Then Steve went upstairs, and as the guys came down the runway to the dugout, I stood there, handing out the caps we weren't supposed to wear."

"MLB said we couldn't wear them in 2001 - we said the heck with that,"  said former Met John Franco. "They (the current Mets) should have done that, too, and pay whatever the fine is." Last week, former Met Todd Zeile said MLB "would've had to rip the hats off our heads" in 2001.
2011 NY Mets Cap
"I find it ironic that 10 years later, they still can't get it passed for one day of tribute," Zeile added Sunday night. "But I guess they feel it's a slippery slope."

But during batting practice and a moving pregame remembrance ceremony, the Mets wore hats reading "NYPD," "FDNY," "PAPD" and initials of other first-responder organizations. Afterward, each player was supposed to autograph his hat and they were slated to be auctioned to benefit various Sept. 11 charities.

"We did it to be consistent around the league," Joe Torre, MLB's VP of baseball operations, told The Associated Press. "It's just something we feel is the right thing to do. I've had several talks with the Mets the last month or so. They understood and respected it. . . . It's certainly not a lack of respect."

R.A. Dickey weighed in later on Twitter: "For all those upset that we didn't wear the hats, I understand your anger. However, they physically took them from us after the ceremony ... We had conspired to wear them but we got found out and MLB got involved.

WHY?

Because MLB's contract with cap-makers NEW ERA is much bigger than it was 10 years ago.

IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY.

All teams wore there regular cap with an American flag sewn into it. A small portion of the proceeds to go to the 9/11 memorial and museum.

WHAT! ALL of the money should go to the 9/11 Memorial & Victims fund. NOTHING should go to MLB or any of the teams.

All I can say is shame on MLB, Shame on Joe Torre. This day, September 11, IS NOT ABOUT MONEY, MLB, SPORTS or anything else. It's about those who lost there live, there families and ALL of us to remember that horrific day that changed us forever!

Remembering 9/11 - Ten Years Later...

Tuesday , September 11, 2001. A beautiful sunny day in New York City. Temperatures were in the upper 60's. Not a cloud in the sky!
Getting ready for work, I didn't have to be in to my job till 10am, my elderly mom living with me yelled to me that a small plane had hit one of the world trade towers, as the news first was reporting. Then of course the second plane hit LIVE as we watched the TV. Thoughts and phone calls trying to reach my sister who worked next to the Empire State Building as we watched in horror as the days events unfolded.
Words are meaningless. Pictures speak for themselves.

This is a photo album of that day that is still unimaginable!

As we mark ten years, what are your thought's of that day and how do you feel now ten years later!
